Expert TV Wall Mounting Services in Brooklyn NY – Same-Day Installation Available

Here’s the thing nobody tells you when you buy a fancy new TV: mounting it yourself in a Brooklyn apartment is nothing like those 20-minute YouTube videos. You’re dealing with walls built when Eisenhower was president, studs that aren’t where they’re supposed to be, and plaster that crumbles if you look at it wrong. We’ve seen folks spend entire weekends trying to mount a TV, only to call us Monday morning after putting three unnecessary holes in their Williamsburg loft or cracking the original plaster in their Park Slope brownstone. Those high ceilings and thick walls you love? They make mounting a TV feel like you need an engineering degree.

That’s exactly why people call us. Ellis Speed Electric has been doing this work in Brooklyn long enough to know that every building is different. The pre-war walkup in Crown Heights needs a completely different approach than new construction in Downtown Brooklyn. We’ve mounted TVs in Bushwick warehouses with exposed brick, Bay Ridge two-families with drywall over concrete, and Carroll Gardens brownstones where the walls are two feet thick. We know what we’re dealing with before we even pick up a drill. Give us a call at 646-708-5530 and let’s talk about your setup. Most installs we can knock out the same day.

About Us

TV Wall Mount Installation Experts Serving Brooklyn NY

We’ve been doing electrical work across Brooklyn for years now—the kind of work where you actually get to know the neighborhoods. Started with service calls in Sunset Park and Bensonhurst, now we’re working everywhere from Red Hook industrial spaces to those massive Victorian houses in Ditmas Park.

What makes us different? We’re electricians first. That matters more than you’d think for TV wall mounting service. See, we can legally run power inside your walls (handymen can’t). We know load calculations for those 85-inch monsters everyone’s buying. We understand why your breaker trips when you plug everything into one outlet. And we’ve seen enough electrical fires from DIY jobs gone wrong that we’re pretty careful about doing things right the first time.

Brooklyn homes aren’t like suburban tract housing. You’ve got knob-and-tube wiring in some of these Flatbush places. Aluminum wiring in ’70s buildings. Steel studs in new Williamsburg condos. Concrete and brick in converted warehouses. We’ve worked with all of it. Plus, we know the co-op board game, what documentation they want, when you need approval, how to not tick off the super.

Our Services Throughout Brooklyn NY

Lighting Solutions in Brooklyn NY

While we're talking about upgrades, let's talk about lighting. Most Brooklyn apartments and houses, especially older ones, have terrible lighting. One ceiling fixture with a 60-watt bulb trying to light a 15-foot room, or worse, those old fluorescent tubes in the kitchen that make everything look like a morgue.

Modern lighting solutions change everything. LED lighting solutions are efficient (your Con Ed bill will thank you), last basically forever, and let you actually see what you're doing. We do everything from LED recessed lighting that opens up a space, to under-cabinet lighting in kitchens, to smart lighting solutions you can control from your phone.

The custom lighting solutions we design depend on how you actually use the space. The home office in your bedroom needs different light than a nursery. The kitchen needs task lighting over counters and ambient lighting for entertaining. Living rooms benefit from layered lighting—not just one overhead fixture blasting everything.

Common Issues We Handle:

  • Rooms that feel dark even with lights on – Wrong bulb temperature, wrong placement, or just not enough light
  • Kitchens with zero counter lighting – Can't see what you're chopping when standing in your own shadow
  • Outdated fixtures eating electricity – Old incandescent bulbs pulling 100 watts when an LED would do the same with 12 watts
  • Basements that feel like caves – Low ceilings plus bad lighting makes the space unusable
  • No dimming options – Sometimes you want bright light, sometimes ambiance; you need flexibility

We handle commercial lighting solutions too for Brooklyn businesses, but most of our work is residential—helping people actually enjoy their spaces.

LED Recessed Lighting in Brooklyn NY

If you've got low ceilings (pretty common in Brooklyn basement apartments and older buildings), recessed LED lighting is your friend. A flush mount means no fixtures hanging down where tall people will hit their heads. Newer LED recessed lights are way better than the old recessed lighting, better color, dimmable, and they don't heat up your apartment in summer.

I did a railroad apartment in Greenpoint last year, the whole place was dark even during the day. We put in eight LED recessed light fixtures, and suddenly the place felt twice as big. The owner said it helped them rent it faster and for more money. Good lighting matters more than people think.

The installation process depends on what's above your ceiling. Sometimes it's easy, sometimes we're dealing with wires, pipes, and surprises. But the result is worth it, clean, even lighting that makes your space actually livable.

Common Situations We Handle:

  • Basement apartments with seven-foot ceilings – Can't have pendant lights, recessed is perfect
  • Long narrow spaces – Railroad apartments need multiple light sources to avoid dark dead zones
  • Kitchen renovations – Builder-grade lighting isn't cutting it, you need proper task lighting
  • Bathrooms without ventilation fans – We can install recessed LED lighting with integrated fans
  • Replacing old recessed cans – Many old fixtures are inefficient or non-functional, LED replacements are ideal

Landscape Lighting in Brooklyn NY

If you're lucky enough to have outdoor space in Brooklyn, backyard, front garden, or roof deck, landscape lighting makes it usable after dark. It also adds serious security value. Dark backyards invite trouble; well-lit yards don’t.

We install landscape lighting throughout Brooklyn. Pathway lighting so you can see your steps at night. Up-lighting for trees or architectural features. Spotlights for security. Low voltage systems that are safe around kids and pets.

The landscape lighting installation process starts with understanding what you're trying to accomplish. Entertaining? Security? Just making it so you can take the trash out without a flashlight? Different goals require different lighting design.

Common Issues We Solve:

  • Front stoops that are dangerous in winter – Can't see ice or steps, risk of injury
  • Backyards nobody uses after sunset – Great spaces are useless without lighting
  • Gardens that disappear at night – Highlight landscaping you spent time and money on
  • Driveways and side alleys that feel sketchy – Improve safety after dark
  • Outdoor outlets that aren't weather-rated – Avoid unsafe extension cords through windows

The service includes running proper outdoor-rated wire, installing GFCI protection, and using fixtures that withstand Brooklyn weather. Commercial landscape lighting follows similar principles but scaled up.

Security Lighting in Brooklyn NY

Let's talk about security lights for a minute. Brooklyn's generally safe, but certain blocks and times of year, it's smart to have good exterior lighting. Motion-sensor LED security lights especially, they're bright when you need them, off when you don't, and they scare off anyone thinking about messing with your property.

We install outdoor security lighting services throughout Brooklyn—hardwired systems, not those battery-powered jobs that die the first cold night. Proper security lighting installation means thinking about angles, coverage, and making sure you light up approaches without blinding yourself or your neighbors.

Commercial security lighting services for Brooklyn businesses follow different rules (brighter, different coverage patterns, sometimes tied into alarm systems), but same principle: eliminate dark corners.

Typical Problems We Fix:

  • Back entrances nobody can see – Commercial requests often come from business owners tired of finding broken bottles Monday morning
  • Driveways that are pitch black – Hard to park or unload groceries safely
  • Motion sensors that false-trigger constantly – Usually cheap sensors or wrong positioning, needs proper installation
  • Not enough coverage – One light over the back door isn't enough; overlapping coverage is required
  • Lights that don't sync – Systems should be coordinated, not random lights doing random things

The security light service we provide includes consultation about best placement, I’ve learned a lot about sight lines and blind spots over the years.

Pool Lighting in Brooklyn NY

Pool lighting is a whole different game. Strict code requirements exist because water plus electricity equals danger if not done right. Every pool needs GFCI protection, proper bonding, and the lights themselves must be low-voltage underwater fixtures.

We do pool lighting work in Mill Basin, Bergen Beach, Manhattan Beach, Gerritsen Beach, basically anywhere someone has a pool. Replacing old halogen pool lights with LED is huge right now. LEDs are brighter, last longer, use way less power, and they come in color-changing varieties if you're into that.

What Pool Owners Need:

  • Old pool lights that stopped working years ago – Usually the fixture itself, sometimes wiring issues
  • Safety compliance – Insurance companies are getting picky about pool electrical being up to code
  • Better visibility for night swimming – Old dim halogen bulbs don't cut it
  • Energy efficiency – Pool lights run for hours; LEDs save real money
  • Lighting around the pool deck – Not just in the water; you need lighting around the area for safety

Pool electrical work isn't something you DIY. Get it wrong and someone could be seriously hurt.

Ceiling Fan Installation in Brooklyn NY

Brooklyn summers are brutal. Humid, hot, and gross. Running AC 24/7 gets expensive fast. Ceiling fans help a ton, they circulate air, make AC more effective, and they're way cheaper to run than air conditioning alone.

But ceiling fan installation needs to be done right. The electrical box has to be rated for ceiling fan weight and movement. Regular light fixture boxes aren't strong enough, I've seen fans tear completely out of ceilings because someone used the wrong box.

We install ceiling fans all over Brooklyn. Our ceiling fan installation services include proper support, wiring for light and fan separately if desired, wall switches so you’re not using pull chains, and balancing so the fan doesn’t wobble.

Common Issues:

  • Existing boxes that aren't fan-rated – Most common problem, requires swapping the box
  • No wall switch – Builder only put in a light switch, so now pull chains or a remote are needed
  • Fans that sound like helicopters – Usually installation issue or cheap fan, sometimes both
  • High ceilings – Brownstone parlor floors with 12-foot ceilings need extension downrods and special mounting
  • Can't fit a standard fan – Some spaces require low-profile fans or specific sizes

The ceiling fan repair calls we get are usually fixing someone else's hack job. Save yourself the trouble and do it right from the start.

Hot Water Heater Installation in Brooklyn NY

Running out of hot water mid-shower is miserable. Old hot water heaters are inefficient and always seem to die at the worst possible time. Plus, they take up serious space, if you have a small Brooklyn utility closet or basement, tankless might be worth considering.

Traditional tank water heaters are cheaper upfront. Tankless costs more but saves space and gives you unlimited hot water. The tradeoff is that tankless requires significant electrical work—240V circuits, sometimes panel upgrades, and definitely permits and inspections.

What Usually Happens:

  • Water heater dies suddenly – Leaks can flood basements, creating a huge mess
  • Family outgrows the tank size – What worked for two people doesn't work for four
  • Energy bills are ridiculous – Old heaters constantly reheat water even when not in use
  • No space for a traditional tank – Tiny apartments may require tankless solutions
  • Panel doesn't have capacity – Tankless pulls serious amperage; old 100-amp panels can't handle it

We handle the whole process—removal of old units, installation of new electrical work, permits, and inspections. Con Ed rebates are available for energy-efficient units, and we can help with that paperwork too.

Tesla Home Charger Installation in Brooklyn NY

More Brooklyn residents are going electric with their cars. Smart move, gas is expensive, maintenance is less, and they're fun to drive. But charging on a regular outlet takes forever.

Tesla home charger installation (or any EV charger, works for Chevy Bolt, Nissan Leaf, etc.) requires a dedicated 240V circuit. That's the same power as your dryer or stove. Most panels have room, but older buildings sometimes need panel upgrades first.

The Tesla home charger install process includes calculating your panel capacity, running the circuit to your parking spot, mounting the charger, permits, and inspection. Co-op and condo buildings have their own requirements too—sometimes you need board approval, sometimes specific insurance documentation.

Typical Challenges:

  • Panel doesn't have capacity – Need a panel upgrade before adding a 50-amp circuit
  • Long distance from panel to parking – Detached garages or outdoor spaces may need trenching or overhead runs
  • Building management approval – We assist with documentation and communication
  • No dedicated parking spot – More difficult in buildings where parking is first-come-first-served
  • Permitting and inspections – We handle all DOB requirements and paperwork

Call early if you've ordered an EV, lead times for installations can be a few weeks during busy seasons.

Power Outages in Brooklyn NY

Power outages near me spike during storms, heat waves, and whenever Con Ed is doing work. When your power's out and won't come back, you need help fast.

Sometimes it's your issue (tripped main breaker, internal wiring problem). Sometimes it's Con Ed's issue (transformer blew, lines down). We can diagnose quickly and fix what's on your end. For power outages that keep happening, it might be time to consider a backup generator—especially if you work from home or have medical equipment.

What We Handle:

  • Partial outages – Some rooms work, some don't; usually circuit breaker problems
  • Breakers tripping constantly – Overloaded circuits or failing breakers
  • Surge damage after storms – Lightning and power surges can fry equipment
  • Main breaker issues – Panel problems requiring immediate attention
  • Generator installation – For people who can't afford to lose power

Emergency service is available—call 646-708-5530 or email us at Ellisspeedelectric@gmail.com and we'll get to you as fast as possible.

Outlet Repairs in Brooklyn NY

Outlets stop working for lots of reasons—loose wiring, failed outlet, tripped GFCI upstream, whatever. The point is, when your outlet's dead you need outlet repairs fast.

We also replace outdated outlets—two-prong ungrounded outlets, outlets that don't hold plugs anymore, outlets near water without GFCI protection. If you're selling your place, home inspectors flag this stuff. Better to fix it before it becomes a negotiating point.

Common Problems:

  • Outlets that work sometimes – Loose connections, need repair or replacement
  • Two-prong outlets everywhere – Older Brooklyn homes, need grounding upgrades
  • Outlets falling out of the wall – Broken mounting, easy fix
  • Kitchen and bathroom outlets without GFCI – Code violation and safety hazard
  • Not enough outlets – Overloaded power strips everywhere, need additional circuits

The outlet repair service includes diagnosing the actual problem (not always obvious) and fixing it properly.

GFCI Outlets in Brooklyn NY

GFCI outlets are required anywhere water is present, bathrooms, kitchens, basements, garages, outdoor spaces. They prevent electrocution by cutting power instantly when they detect a ground fault.

If your place was built before the '70s, you probably don't have GFCIs. That's a problem. Easy fix though, we install GFCI outlets throughout Brooklyn homes regularly.

Typical Situations:

  • No GFCI in bathroom or kitchen – Basic code requirement, needs fixing
  • GFCI that keeps tripping – Either there's a ground fault (bad) or the GFCI is failing (annoying but fixable)
  • Outdoor outlets without weather covers – Water gets in, shorts out, need proper boxes
  • Basement outlets near water – Sump pumps, laundry, anywhere moisture is an issue
  • Old GFCIs that don't work anymore – They wear out, need replacement every 10-15 years

GFCI outlet installation is straightforward but important. Don't skip this.

Electrical Troubleshooting in Brooklyn NY

Electrical problems can be mysterious. Lights flicker randomly. Outlets work sometimes. Breakers trip for no obvious reason. Weird humming noises. These need proper electrical troubleshooting, not guesswork.

We use actual diagnostic tools, voltage testers, circuit analyzers, thermal imaging for hot spots. Often the problem's not where you think it is. Flickering light in the bedroom might be caused by a loose connection in the basement.

Stuff We Diagnose Regularly:

  • Flickering lights – Loose connections, bad switches, utility voltage problems
  • Breakers tripping randomly – Could be overload, short circuit, or bad breaker
  • Buzzing sounds – Usually loose connections, sometimes transformer issues
  • Intermittent problems – Hardest to diagnose but we get there eventually
  • Tingling from appliances – Grounding problem, potentially dangerous, needs immediate attention

The electrical troubleshooting process sometimes takes time, but we figure it out. Years of experience helps.

Panel Upgrades in Brooklyn NY

Most older Brooklyn homes have 60-amp or 100-amp service. That's not enough anymore. Modern homes need 200-amp service for AC, electric heat, car chargers, modern appliances, and all your electronics.

Panel upgrades are involved—permits, inspections, coordination with Con Ed sometimes. We handle the whole process. The electrical panel upgrades include removing old panels (especially dangerous Federal Pacific and Zinsco panels), installing new 200-amp panels, and getting everything inspected and approved.

When You Need a Panel Upgrade:

  • Breakers trip constantly – Not enough capacity for your loads
  • Fuse boxes – Still have screw-in fuses, time to upgrade
  • Can't add circuits – Want to install an EV charger or central AC but no panel space
  • Insurance requirements – Some companies won't insure certain old panels
  • Home is 50+ years old – Probably time to upgrade regardless

Panel upgrades aren't cheap but they're necessary. Budget $2,500-$5,000 depending on complexity.

Circuit Breaker Replacements in Brooklyn NY

Circuit breakers protect your wiring by shutting off when circuits overload. But breakers wear out, especially ones that trip frequently. A bad breaker might not trip when it should (fire hazard) or might trip with normal loads (annoying).

We replace circuit breakers across Brooklyn—matching the correct amperage and type. Sometimes the breaker is fine but the circuit is overloaded. We diagnose that too.

Common Issues:

  • Breakers that won't stay on – Even with nothing plugged in
  • Breakers that won't trip – Dangerous, need replacement immediately
  • Hot breakers – Sign of serious overload
  • AFCI breakers false tripping – Sometimes legitimate, sometimes needs adjustment
  • Wrong breakers installed – DIYers use whatever fits, not what's compatible

Circuit breaker replacement is straightforward when done by a licensed electrician.

Aluminum Wiring Replacement in Brooklyn NY

Houses built in the '60s and '70s often have aluminum wiring. It was legal then, but now we know it's a fire hazard. Aluminum expands and contracts more than copper, connections loosen, sparking and overheating happens.

Insurance companies charge more for aluminum wiring or flat refuse coverage. We handle aluminum wiring replacement two ways: complete rewiring (expensive but permanent solution) or professional pigtailing using COPALUM connectors (cheaper, nearly as good).

Why Aluminum Wiring Matters:

  • Insurance problems – Higher premiums or denied coverage
  • Fire risk – Loose connections cause fires, this is documented
  • Flickering and warm outlets – Early warning signs
  • Home inspection failures – Buyers walk away or demand price reductions
  • Can't add new circuits safely – Need special procedures

This isn't DIY territory. Aluminum wiring remediation requires specific training and equipment.

Jacuzzi Spa Circuits in Brooklyn NY

Installing a hot tub or jacuzzi in your backyard? It needs dedicated electrical—240V circuit, GFCI protection, proper sizing, and a weatherproof disconnect. Jacuzzi spa circuits installation must meet National Electrical Code requirements.

We install spa circuits throughout Brooklyn. Proper wire sizing is critical—undersized wire heats up, trips breakers, or worse. GFCI protection is mandatory and potentially life-saving.

What's Involved:

  • Dedicated 240V circuit – Can't share with other loads
  • GFCI protection – Non-negotiable safety requirement
  • Weatherproof disconnect – Required within sight of spa
  • Proper wire sizing – Based on spa amperage and distance from panel
  • Permits and inspections – Required for outdoor electrical work

Spa electrical work is serious. Get it done by a licensed electrician, period.

TV Wall Mount Installation in Brooklyn NY

Most people underestimate how tricky a proper TV wall mount installation can be in an older building. You're not just hanging a picture frame here. Modern TVs weigh 40, 50, sometimes 80+ pounds. Mount that wrong and you're looking at a destroyed TV, a massive hole in your wall, and possibly worse.

I was in a Cobble Hill apartment last month where the previous owner had tried mounting a TV himself. They used drywall anchors (not even toggle bolts) straight into half-inch drywall with no stud backing. Pure luck it hadn't fallen yet. We pulled it down, did it right, found the actual studs, used proper lag bolts, and installed a new outlet behind the TV so cords didn't run down to a baseboard outlet six feet away.

That's the other thing about professional TV wall mounting services, you want someone who'll actually solve the cable problem. Nobody wants to see wires. We run power and HDMI through the wall, legally and safely. It takes an extra hour but the difference is night and day.

Common Issues We Handle:

  • Walls where the studs play hide and seek – Pre-war buildings especially, studs aren't on 16-inch centers like modern code requires
  • Cable management that looks like spaghetti – Multiple devices like Roku, soundbar, PlayStation, and cable box create 15 cables everywhere
  • No outlet where you actually need it – Builder put the outlet six feet from the TV location
  • Steel studs that need special mounting hardware – Toggle bolts rated for the TV weight, not just whatever came with the mount
  • Brick and concrete walls – DUMBO and Williamsburg lofts require proper masonry bits and anchors

Low Voltage Lighting in Brooklyn NY

Low voltage lighting (12V or 24V systems) is perfect for accent lighting, under-cabinet lighting, closet lighting, and landscape lighting. Safer than line voltage, more energy-efficient, and easier to work with.

We install low voltage lighting throughout Brooklyn homes—LED strip lighting under kitchen cabinets, closet lighting systems, pathway lighting outdoors, and accent lighting for art or architecture.

Common Applications:

  • Under-cabinet kitchen lighting – Makes counters actually usable
  • Closet lighting – Walk-in closets need proper light
  • Bookshelf and display lighting – Highlight what's important
  • Outdoor pathway lighting – Safe walking at night
  • Accent lighting – Architectural details, artwork, features

Low voltage doesn't mean no expertise is needed. Transformer sizing, wire gauge, and design still matter.

Comprehensive Electrical Safety Inspections in Brooklyn NY

When's the last time someone actually looked at your electrical system? If you can't remember, or if your house is 25+ years old, get it inspected. Electrical safety inspections identify hazards before they cause fires or injuries.

We provide comprehensive electrical safety inspections for homeowners, landlords, buyers, and sellers throughout Brooklyn. You get a detailed report with photos and prioritized recommendations.

When You Need an Inspection:

  • Buying a home – Know what you're getting into before closing
  • Selling a home – Fix problems before buyers find them
  • Insurance requirements – Some companies require inspections for older homes
  • After renovations – Make sure contractor work was done properly
  • Landlord compliance – Ensure rental units meet code

Inspections usually take 2-4 hours depending on property size. Worth every penny for peace of mind.

FAQs

Common Questions About TV Wall Mounts and Electrical Work in Brooklyn NY

Yeah, usually. Call us before noon at 646-708-5530 and if we have availability (which we usually do), we can come out that afternoon or evening. Most wall mount tv installation service jobs take 1-3 hours depending on what’s involved—simple mount on drywall is quick, mounting on brick with in-wall cable concealment takes longer.

For bigger electrical work like panel upgrades, obviously that’s scheduled in advance, but wall mounting tv service is typically same-day if you need it.

Depends on a few things. Simple fixed tv wall mount installation on drywall with no wire work—probably $200-$275. Adjustable tv wall mount that tilts and swings, bit more. Add in-wall cable concealment and new outlet installation, you’re looking at $400-$600. Mounting on brick or concrete, add another $100-$150 because it’s more work.

We’ll give you an exact quote based on your specific situation. Call us at 646-708-5530 and describe what you’re trying to do, we can usually quote over the phone or we’ll come look at it.

We hide them—that’s the whole point of hiring professionals. We run cables through your wall (power and HDMI or whatever else you need). Since we’re licensed electricians we can also install a new outlet behind the TV if you don’t have one. Running extension cords behind walls is illegal and dangerous, don’t do that.

The tv wall mounting services we provide include clean cable management. It costs a bit more than just slapping a TV on the wall, but the difference in appearance is huge.

That’s probably 60% of the wall mount tv service jobs we do—old plaster walls. They require different techniques than drywall. We use special anchors, find the actual studs (they’re not always where you expect in old buildings), and we’re careful not to crack the plaster while drilling.

Been doing this long enough that we know what we’re dealing with before we start. Plaster walls are actually pretty solid once you mount into them properly.

Maybe. Most co-op and condo boards don’t care about tv wall mount services, but some require advance notification for any work involving drilling into walls. We’re familiar with this—we work in co-ops and condos throughout Brooklyn daily.

We’re fully licensed and insured, which satisfies most building requirements. We can provide a certificate of insurance if your building needs it. We also protect common areas, use floor coverings, and clean up thoroughly.

Yes Ellis Speed Electric LLC holds all required New York State and New York City electrical licenses. We’re fully insured (liability and workers’ comp). We pull permits for major work like panel upgrades. Our work is done to code and gets inspected when required.

You can verify our license status with the NYC Department of Buildings if you want. We have nothing to hide—we run a legitimate, above-board electrical business.
